Fynch Behavioral Change Program

Duurzaam reisgedrag stimuleren

Fynch stimulates sustainable and active traveling behavior by using scientific behavioral change principles from Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) in collaboration with VU Amsterdam. We apply this in various ways:

  • Insight into the personal CO2 footprint development, traveling behavior and vitality;
  • Differentiated kilometer compensation (higher compensation for active- and sustainable choices, such as walking or cycling);
  • Fynch Coins, for every cycling-, walking trip, remote working days or traveling outside rush hour, you receive coins. These coins can be spend on (discounts on) sustainable products;
  • Gamification & social rewards, how are you performing against other benchmarks?

Encourage sustainable and active travel

Fynch encourages employees to show sustainable behavior. We do this by providing insight into various personal behaviors, through our own Coin rewards program, and flexibly configurable mobility reimbursements (KPIs of your company).

For example, this includes a higher kilometer reimbursement for cycling and driving an electric car. Our Fynch Change Program is based on the scientific OBM methodology.

Behavioral Change using Organizational Behavior Management

It remains one of the biggest challenges for mobility professionals: how to effectively bring about behavioral change in travel behavior. Answering this question lies at the heart of what we do. In our search for the best methodology, we ended up with Organizational Behaviour Management, a scientific theory on behavior change.

We’ll save you some time; in a nutshell, when you want to change behavior you first have to measure it properly. Then you can link consequences to it. With positive consequences, people will show more of the desired behavior. With negative consequences (such as traffic fines), you hope the behavior will stop. We link different positive consequences to the behaviors you want to see more of:

  1. Cycling
  2. Walking
  3. Traveling outside rush hour
  4. Traveling with an EV
  5. Not traveling (working from home)

We encourage users primarily through social rewards such as insight into their own performance and through compliments! Additionally, we reward with Fynch Coins. These coins can be spent on a range of sustainable products and incentives. We also offer the option of configuring a variable kilometer reimbursement, in which case users receive higher reimbursement for sustainable modes of mobility such as traveling by bicycle or electric car.
