Q: What are the required settings if you want to use Fynch?
A: For having optimal registration in Fynch, you will need the following settings on your phone:

  1. Data usage should be switched on
  2. Wi-Fi must be switched on
  3. GPS (Location) must be switched on
  4. Battery saver mode should be switched off for Fynch
  5. Automatic updates for the Fynch app should be switched on

Q: How do I register my account if I participate in a campaign and received a code?
A: Please carry out the next steps:

  1. Download the Fynch app in the Google Play Store or App Store.
  2. Enter your email address and click on the arrow.
  3. Enter a password of your choice and click on the arrow. Be aware that your password should at least contain one number, a letter, and a special character.
  4. You will receive a notification on your screen. If you have an Android, choose Code. If you have an iPhone, choose Continue. Enter the code that you received on this screen.
  5. You are now registered! Follow the instructions provided within the app. After this, you will see the Dashboard screen and you can start traveling.

Q: Why do GPS, data, and Wi-Fi have to be switched on in Fynch?
A: Fynch makes contact regularly with the database to process your trips. It will need a GPS-, data- and/or Wi-Fi connection to do so.

Q: Can I pause the Fynch app?
A: Yes, you can pause the app by going to the tab Profile and turning the switch to the left at the heading Sensing (the switch will turn grey). The app will stop registering your trips. As soon as you turn the switch to the right (the switch will be blue/green), the app will automatically start measuring your trips again.

Q: Will my battery die sooner when I use the Fynch app?
A: Fynch uses GPS for tracking your trips. This will ask for extra current. Fynch uses current when you are traveling, the battery use is almost nihil when you are not. If you travel over four hours a day, we recommend bringing your charger!

Q: Can I use Fynch on two devices?
A: Unfortunately, this is impossible. When you log in on two devices, your account will automatically be put on our blacklist. This will mean that Fynch will block the data coming from both devices: you will not see any trips.

We do this to prevent tracked trips from showing a different travel behavior pattern on the two devices. This can happen when, for example, you log in on your tablet that is at home most of the time, while your other device (phone) is brought with you.

Q: I accidentally logged in on two devices. What should I do?
A: Do you suspect that your trips are not registered well because your account is on the blacklist? Delete the app from one of your devices. However, sometimes this is not enough. If you keep having issues with the trip registration, please contact us at support@fynchmobility.com.

Q: What should I keep in mind when I get a new phone?
A: When you have a new phone, you should first log out from the app on your old phone. Then also delete the Fynch app from your old phone. After this, you can install Fynch at your new phone and you can log in. You can find Fynch in the Google Play Store or in the App Store.

Q: Does Fynch use extra data?
A: Fynch uses less than 1 Mb per day. So, the use of data is limited. When you open the app frequently to look at your data, this can be a little higher.

Q: Do I have to restart Fynch every time?
A: No, this isn’t necessary. Fynch runs in the background of your phone. When you use the right settings, your trips will automatically be registered. When your trips aren’t registered, the app is probably closed automatically to save battery life. If you need help, you can find instructions on the correct settings for your phone here.

My travel behavior

Q: The mode of transport for my trip is wrong, how do I change this?
A: You can change your transport mode in two ways. If you navigate to the Trips page, on the top right corner you see an Edit button. Click it, scroll down to the trip you want to change, and change the mode of transport by clicking on the white block that shows the wrong mode of transport. Select the correct mode of transport. If you want to change other trips as well, you can also do that now. When you are ready, click on Done in the top right corner to save your changes.

You can also change the trip by clicking on the trip, which opens a screen with trip details. In the top right corner, you will again see an Edit button. Change the trip and when you are done, click the button Done in the top right corner.

Q: My trip is missing, can I add the trip?
A: Unfortunately, it is not possible to do this yourself.

Q: The starting- and the finishing point are not exactly shown in Fynch. Why is that?
A: Because of your privacy the first and last 200 meters won’t be registered exactly.

Q: My short trip is not registered correctly. Can I edit this myself?
A: Fynch has only a few seconds to find a measuring point by GPS and Wi-Fi, as soon as you start your trip. If this doesn’t work, Fynch takes a while before trying again. This can result in the fact that your short trip isn’t registered properly. Unfortunately, it is impossible to change this yourself.

Q: My trip has a travel goal: Business related. How can I change this to commuter travel?
A: Just as changing the mode of transport, you can easily change the travel goal by going to the Trips page and clicking on the Edit button in the top right corner. Then, you can change the mode of transport and travel goal. When you are done, click the button Done in the top right corner to save your changes.

Q: I want to see more details of my trip on the map, is this possible?
A: Yes, that is possible. Select the trip you would like to see and zoom in on the map to see more details. You can zoom in by putting two fingers on the screen and slide them apart, just as you do when you want to zoom in on a picture.

Trips are not registered

Q: What should I do if there are no trips registered?
A: First, check your settings. You can check the settings for your phone here. In addition, you can also check whether you have the latest version of the app. We recommend you to allow the Fynch app to be automatically updated. Are all of your settings right, but you still cannot see any trips? Contact us at support@fynchmobility.com.

Q: Fynch registered my trip, but some parts of my trip are incorrect. Why is that?
A: When the GPS connection of your phone isn’t working correctly, the data that are being registered, will be interpreted. It is possible that because of this, some parts of your trip won’t be shown in a completely correct way. It may also be that your settings are not right, which you can check here for your device. Q: During my trip, I used two different modes of transport, but Fynch registered this as only one. Can I change this myself?
A: Unfortunately, it is not possible to adjust this yourself.

Q: During my trip, I used one form of transport, but Fynch registers this as more than one. Can I change this myself?
A: Yes, go to the Trips screen and change your mode of transport and travel goal. When several trips are registered right after each other with the same mode of transport and the same travel goal, they will automatically be merged into one trip.


Q: What trips can I earn coins with?
A: On the Dashboard screen you can see how many coins you have earned and which challenges you can participate in. To see the overview of challenges, click on the arrows in the block that also shows your coin balance. You can earn coins by cycling, walking, traveling by PT, traveling off-peak, carpooling, and participating in challenges.

Q: Where can I see the coins that I earned?
A: On the Dashboard screen in the app you will see your coin balance at the top. When you go to the Trips screen, you can see your earned coins per trip. Do you want to understand how you earned coins? Then click the arrows in the block that also shows your coin balance on the Dashboard screen. You will find all the rules here.

Q: What are the challenges in the Fynch app and how do I participate?
A: If you go to the Dashboard screen and click on the arrows behind your Coin balance, you will see all the challenges you can participate in. Click a challenge to activate it.

Q: Where can I redeem my Coins for gifts in the app Fynch?
A: When you go to the Rewards screen, you will see all offers. You can now see what you can spend your coins on. All offers are discounts on or gift cards for sustainable products and brands.


Q: I forgot my password, what should I do?
A: At the log-in screen of the Fynch app, you can click on “Reset password” and ask for a new one. You will receive an email to reset your password within a few minutes. Also, check your spam file.

Q: I want to terminate my account, how can I do this?
A: Send an email to support@fynchmobility.com. We will delete your account. To delete the app from your phone, press the app for a little while and then click on “Delete”.
